Immersed in a Sea of Irrefutable Realities Inside Our Bubbles of Rightness

Our realities -- waking lives and dreams -- emerge from the brain’s billions of zapping cells and trillions of synaptic connections. It is from this inner universe of synaptic constellations that human decisions arise and imaginations are forged. All of our life experiences take place in storms of activity within the computational material of our brains.

From the moment we awaken in the morning, we are surrounded with a rush of light and sounds and smells. Our senses are flooded. All we have to do is wake up every day and without thought or effort we are immersed in our irrefutable reality. It is our awareness of everything we sense, believe and think. It includes the ways we perceive ourselves, others and our world, as well as our appetites, desires, longing and fears.

We all assume our “irrefutable reality” to be that of the entire objective world. We all live in our own bubbles of rightness, in which we are the ultimate standard for determining what is right.

Why would anyone ever stop to consider there’s something beyond his or her reality?

What am I?

What am I? Now that’s a question a lot of people have asked in the history of humans. We ( Rabbi Jeffrey Leynor and former pastor Jim Myers ) created two models for working with that question – after wrestling with it for over 25 years . You may have noticed that use models instead of answers. Most questions about life are better understood by using models that reveal potentialities than statements of either/or answers . Our models emerged from two sources in which our research and studies focused on during our journey together – one source is an ancient wisdom account embedded in our shared religious texts and the other source is modern science . This makes our approach at the TOV Center unique in many respects – we combine the wisdom of ancient texts with the facts of modern science to maximize human experiences . As pointed out above, we created a model from each source to help us better understand humans: (1) Ancient Wisdom Model – Humans are creatures that share t

Introduction to Lives 1st Realities Transformations

(This is a handout for the first Lives 1st Realities Tour. It will provide an overview for the discussions between Jeffrey and Jim.)  ● Began a journey over a quarter of a century ago. ○ How did two sects of the same religion become two mutually exclusive monotheistic religions? ● Two guideline were like a GPS that kept us on track: ○ Belief Systems : My belief system will be large enough to include all of the facts, open enough to be examined and questioned, and flexible enough to change if errors or new facts are discovered . ○ Meanings of Words : A word is a symbol or group of symbols with an attached bundle of association, and those associations are a product of the Source’s culture, historical time period, geographical location and personal experiences . ● Our religions changed not only because of religious factors, political and economic factors played major roles too.  ○ Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (Roman Catholic Church) and the German Electo

Two Guys with Mutually Exclusive Monotheistic Belief Systems Learn How to Be Transparent and Cooperate

When Rabbi Leynor and I (Jim Myers) met, we never dreamed we were beginning the journey that has now lasted over a quarter of a century -- or that we would now be talking about realities, genes and memes . It is unbelievable that the most important things we now know about realities, genes and meme were not discovered until the 21 st century. Our focus back then was on understanding belief systems and searching for ancient meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words of our Scriptures. I had been engaged in research about the Jewish Jesus for about six years before I met Jeffrey. During that time I created two guidelines that helped me stay on track in my work and help members of my Bible study groups resolve conflicts that often involved differences in beliefs. Belief Systems Guideline My Belief System will be large enough to include all of the Facts, it will be open enough to be examined and questioned, and it will be flexible enough to change if errors or new facts are disc
