Are You Seeing the Questions the Bible Raises?

I was raised in a religion in which “the Bible” was “a book of answers.” The words below came from a bumper sticker I saw and it describes what we believed perfectly:

The Bible says it. I believe it. That settles it!

Being surrounded by people that believe the same things you do is a very comfortable situation. Everyone shares the same beliefs and knows theright answers” – and, most importantly, they know the questions that shouldn’t be asked!

When you study the Bible with a group of “Explorers of Biblical Heritages” it is a very different experience. People have different beliefs, conflicting answers and ask lots of questions. Continue reading at -

What am I?

What am I? Now that’s a question a lot of people have asked in the history of humans. We ( Rabbi Jeffrey Leynor and former pastor Jim Myers ) created two models for working with that question – after wrestling with it for over 25 years . You may have noticed that use models instead of answers. Most questions about life are better understood by using models that reveal potentialities than statements of either/or answers . Our models emerged from two sources in which our research and studies focused on during our journey together – one source is an ancient wisdom account embedded in our shared religious texts and the other source is modern science . This makes our approach at the TOV Center unique in many respects – we combine the wisdom of ancient texts with the facts of modern science to maximize human experiences . As pointed out above, we created a model from each source to help us better understand humans: (1) Ancient Wisdom Model – Humans are creatures that share t

Introduction to Lives 1st Realities Transformations

(This is a handout for the first Lives 1st Realities Tour. It will provide an overview for the discussions between Jeffrey and Jim.)  ● Began a journey over a quarter of a century ago. ○ How did two sects of the same religion become two mutually exclusive monotheistic religions? ● Two guideline were like a GPS that kept us on track: ○ Belief Systems : My belief system will be large enough to include all of the facts, open enough to be examined and questioned, and flexible enough to change if errors or new facts are discovered . ○ Meanings of Words : A word is a symbol or group of symbols with an attached bundle of association, and those associations are a product of the Source’s culture, historical time period, geographical location and personal experiences . ● Our religions changed not only because of religious factors, political and economic factors played major roles too.  ○ Roman Emperor Constantine the Great (Roman Catholic Church) and the German Electo

Two Guys with Mutually Exclusive Monotheistic Belief Systems Learn How to Be Transparent and Cooperate

When Rabbi Leynor and I (Jim Myers) met, we never dreamed we were beginning the journey that has now lasted over a quarter of a century -- or that we would now be talking about realities, genes and memes . It is unbelievable that the most important things we now know about realities, genes and meme were not discovered until the 21 st century. Our focus back then was on understanding belief systems and searching for ancient meanings of the Hebrew and Greek words of our Scriptures. I had been engaged in research about the Jewish Jesus for about six years before I met Jeffrey. During that time I created two guidelines that helped me stay on track in my work and help members of my Bible study groups resolve conflicts that often involved differences in beliefs. Belief Systems Guideline My Belief System will be large enough to include all of the Facts, it will be open enough to be examined and questioned, and it will be flexible enough to change if errors or new facts are disc
