  50 years before the Temple was destroyed in 70 CE, Yeshua (the Jesus of history) was teaching the Shema. This is a Jewish leader teaching members of Jewish sect. No Christians existed at that time. The context began with the words, “ Hear, O Israel ,” which means, “ Listen up and obey! ”   This is followed by a clear declaration of who the Elohim (God) of Israel is – It is Yahweh!   The other night I was working on a translation of the parable of Jesus about “destroying the Torah.” A CNN Breaking News announcement caught my attention. Students on university campuses were shouting “ death to Israel ,” “ applauding what Hamas did to the Israeli citizens ,” and shouting “ death to America .” What I was seeing made absolutely no sense!
